winmut,
I did the drill & screw. You need 2 bolts. I used 2x 1/4" .

I refilled my fan clutch today. I drilled and tapped a hole for a set screw and then filled it completely using both bottles of Toyota oil. The clutch was bone dry.

Chief ancient post excavator here.

I just bought 60ml of Team Losi (RC car brand) 10,000 weight silicone oil to try this on my 606.962 fan visco clutch,

The clutch seems to be a bit different to the W124(?) type seen in this thread, I'm hoping I hit the correct chamber when I drill....

Glad you pulled it up, since I remembered it, and timely since I just bought a new fan clutch to try. The new one has a coiled T-stat spring like you see on U.S. 70's cars and looks a bit more rugged. A similar-looking one is in P-P (much more than I paid). If somebody springs for the "original M-B" clutch listed they can tell us what it actually looks like. Not me, since it cost >2x what I paid for my 1984 300D car.

Depending on where you live and if A/C is used, the viscous fan may not be needed.

On both 606.962 and 606.910 both fans removed without issue so far, the 962 has done around 50,000 miles but not so much on 910 as only just re-built.

lot quieter without plus heats up a tad quicker in the winter.
