There was someone here that posted recently. He had a 617 in a jeep. Also seen some one here with a Land Rover that had an MB diesel in it. I think he posted within the last few days.

Several folks have been talking of such a thing for the last two years.

Here's a couple of pics of my 617 swap into a 53 F100. Looks like it was made to be there.

I think I'd go with some different rims, but that doesn't look too shabby!

5cylturbojeep and MercedesRover are a couple of guys who post regularly who have done swaps. The Rover is a 4 cylinder and he actually sells some parts to do the conversion.

A year ago this spring there was a 4x4 Ford Ranger in NE Indiana that was listed in EBAY. It never sold. A few months later I was with a friend to go check out some axle parts that he found listed in a local classified paper. Next to the shed was the Ranger. I told my friend that it looked familiar. I asked the owner and he explained the saga. The owner and a rotted W116 300SD and a Ranger 4x4 needing an engine. So he put the 617 turbo in the Ranger with its 4x4 drive and manual tranny. The problem with the truck is that the engine and transmission had an alignment problem that caused the clutch to not last long. That would be a bummer. It was a neat idea. The owner said that the turbo diesel was a great power plant for the truck.
I now wish that I would have make an offer for the truck and then found a way to align the engine and transmission.

There is a 1987 Nissan pickup on eBay right now with a 616. Not sure if it's 4x4.
