ATF fluid and engine oil

They are both oils, right? I want to drain some of the trans fluid to make room for TRANS-X, and I have this low profile 12 qt drain pan (about 3" tall, fits w/o having to jack the car) but it has the oil from my last engine oil change from my Honda. Recycling doesn't care if they're mixed right?
Thanks

I wouldn't think so.

But I don't now.

None of the collectors I have ever used cared. Oil is oil, apparently. The shop I used to run had a single collection tank in the back for all oils, be they gear, motor, transmission, or hydraulic.

I'd suggest just calling the location you want to take the stuff to and asking them.

Mixing them to use is bad but mixing for recycling won't make any difference.

I take my recycling (oil) to AZ and they don't care as long as you don't try to jamb in some coolant into their tank.
