So, it's your contention that soot, in a concentration of 50,000 parts per million won't cause any abrasive wear to the rings or the cylinder walls because the individual particles are too small?

Brian,
My plans are to keep it 15 - 20 years before replacing it with a newer MB diesel. Running pure Mobil 1 synthetic oil.

What change interval do you recommend (or use) for the engine oil?

Never he is going to try and make it last for 20 years on the factory fill.

Most recently I saw an attorney who tried that on a very new looking Audi A6. 30k miles and the engine sounded like a 617 with 4 bad injectors. After he gets through paying the dealer $20k to replace the engine, maybe he will think that changing it once or twice a year isn't such a hassel.

I agree with you Joe, that you haven't stated that. You have also derided people for changing after 3000 miles without a hint as to your preferred interval. It might as well be forever.

Nobody here really cares when you change your oil.

If 3,000 miles or forever, works for you......knock yourself out.

But don't I then believe that my engine will grenade at 3001 miles? Come on, Joe. Are you really nothing more than a troll?

I couldn't care less on how long you keep it.

I asked you for your OCI.

Put it up on the board for all to see.

Twice, it seems. But all signs of a true sock puppet point to no.

Yes, the details would be nice....because it does matter.

I would bet that the engine with the sludge is a gasser. Why? Because I'm fricken brilliant, that's why!

Just because one type of engine produces sludge mean absolutely nothing.

Not a trace of sludge in my 300D engine, even with my oil change interval of infinity.

And where is Jim B.?

He's the guy that started this thread when I was selling my 240D and banned from mercedesshop.

He just didn't have his facts straight. The 240D had the oil changed and I had not driven it much. The 300D was the car I stopped changing the oil in.

And someone from this board went to craigslist and got my ad pulled because they said it was fraud. Nice guys.

And despite all of that the car sold at list price to the first person who saw it.

Oils well that ends well.
