W123 Voltage Regulator

Gentlemen, I need opinions on which type of voltage regulator for a W123 617 Turbo is preferable? Which brand is better?

BOSCH?

K.A.E.?

...or are there any drop-in aftermarket brands that is better than OE?

Thanks!

I originally have BOSCH but when it died, have it replaced with an identical 65amps. but not BOSCH rebuilt unit from Advance AP.

If you are asking about the brush pack/regulators you need to examine your current BP - they are different and not interchangeable.

Um, I've interchanged them on my 85 300TD.

I have no opinion on quality differences.

The internal alignment contact is different and sure would not work on mine

It is still working as of right now but I'm having symptoms like the AC blower would speed up or headlight brightness increases everytime I rev the engine, and there are times where the battery light on the cluster will flicker if its really dark. I just wanted to have a regulator in hand ready just in case it quits. Otherwise, engine still starts up with no issues and the battery isn't draining yet.

You think the armature on yours is so worn out that it would not line up with a new one?

No, the contact prongs are different. When Phil sent me the KAE and I had them both in my hand it was real obvious.

Based on what TX76513 says, and the small difference in price, I'd say go with whatever is already on there.

On my various cars, four 123's I have used both, the KAE has longer brushes, should last longer.
