Reading the DIY links, transmission Q
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=86779
I'm a few (all) steps behind the original poster. What+where is the transmission modulator valve? I need a MityVac to adjust it properly, right? Anything else I need to know before trying this? TIA

The modulator valve controls the internal hydralic pressure for the transmission. It is located on the drivers side of the transmission, just above the fluid pan. I think yours will be green - you'll see it.
First question, why are you messing with the modulator? Is it leaking vacuum? Theres a lot of steps to go before removing it. Heres a link to a DIY for adjusting the pressure of the modulator correctly: http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka/Trans722VacMod I have R and R'ed mine. Do a search for my user name and 'modulator' and you'll see all about my experiences removing it. My advice is exhaust all the possibilities before yanking it, its kind of a pain to do. dd

http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=194011 Cliff Notes: Shifts seem to be slipping. It goes into gear when I first start the car, (ie it'll roll forward) but when I come to a stop and then go, the engine revs but I don't go anywhere. Worse when I'm turning (esp. right). Eventually it grabs. But, the engine will rev/drop rev/drop rev/drop and the car'll go/not go - like it's slipping in and out of gear. I don't want to remove the modulator, just try and fix my issue. The (indie) shop was no help, I'm not sure they checked anything, just drove it around. I'm trying to basically tune up all I can tune up and see if it gets any better. Later today I'm putting in the TRANS-X to see what that does.

Transmission VCV and/or Bowden cable.
I haven't read the original thread, so, I cannot provide a proper suggestion. |

I read the original thread..........and you really don't need two of them going to accomplish the same thing.
No adjustment to the Bowden cable or the VCV will allow the transmission to engage first gear. If the linkage is correct and the filter is clean, either it engages first...........or you've got internal problems. Please continue any further discussion on the original thread. |
