300SD hood hinge problems

Having a problem with the hood hinge in my 84 300SD - it looks like one of the joints seized due to rust and the bolt(?) snapped in half. I've managed to remove the broken bolt from both sides - what do I do now? Is that bolt available at all? Should I see about having something made to fit?

Pics are sadly unavailable until I find my camera....

It's a bolt with threads? Mine has threadless pins with clips on the end.

Anyone want to trade an old Volvo for an '87 300sdl?

Mine did the same. Took the inner fender liner out, removed the hinge, bought a 14mm bolt, shaved the head thin, stuck it thru cut off the excess and tack welded it. Luber everything good and works like new.

Did this last week took about an hour start to finish.

It's a threadless pin, more like a big rivet. I think a 14mm bolt or rod would do, but the inner half, on the bracket, seems smaller than that. Of course, it could be tapped out some. I was thinking I could whip up something out of Delrin or Teflon, but from the looks of it, that pin has to carry a lot of weight and the plastic would probably break.

UPDATE:

You are right I had to "hog" out the bracket hole a bit. Then ran the 14 mm bolt thru.
