w123 Pass side doorlock broke, locked shut

Heya.

Yesturday a friend may or may not have pulled on the passenger side black door lock thingy while it was down, before I could say 'don't touch that'.

Anyhow the little black doorlock thingy pulled out.... and
the door now stays on lock, no matter where the other doors are at.

Window still functions fine.

I figured I would have to take the door apart, but how since it will not open...

Any tips or thread#'s are helpful. I'm on a roadtrip and my passengers now do the 'dukes of hazzard' entry...

Is there a way to fish the rod back up to the black plastic lock piece...
I belive it swung down somewhere as i cannot see it when i peer into the little door lock activator hole.

again, thanks!

(3500 miles since last post...)

you should be able to just pull on the release handle from inside and it will open. that is, unless the mechanisim inside is broken.

I agree, also, have you tried unlocking it with the key?

inside handle reacts the same as the outside.

they both feel really loose....
but not completely loose...

Im guessing from looking at the Haynes Manual
that the rod going up to the plastic black pull
has swung down.

I assumed the vac system would still unlock the door.

all other doors work with the vac system and I have not
seen any signs of vac leak...

dunno...

oh i missed that bit....

unfortunatly my outer lock (for key) is broken and hasen't worked since day one. There is a staple-like wire popping out of it....

I will go fuss with it a bit and see if i can get it to work-
as i remember the key wouldent really go in, but I didnt try much
pressure at the time.... Thought the key might stick in there...

(UPDATE)- Put the key in- jammed it in thru some resistance, and it turns,
but it is springily blocked from full turn in either direction. Something is definatly out of place in there. About a quarter turn away from opening the door it is resisted by what feels like something springy.
No unlocky.

If I had my spare key with me I would just go ahead and totally crank on the key-
since the lock is busted anyhow- but I dont wanna snap my only key while 700 miles from my casa.
