1983 to 86 300 se
Hi, I wanted to get you guys opinion on a project . I have got a 1983 300 sd w 136,000 mi on the clock , but the body saw better days! I also have a 86 300 se w/ 150,000 on the clock w/a blown motor . What do you guys think of this swap ? Is the 83 617 as good as a 85 617 ? or do you think I am just wasting my time ? thanks J

If you're in the US, I'm curious to know where you got an 86 300SE. Wasn't sold in the US until 88.
You have most of what you need for the swap but it'll cost you less in the long run to sell both and get a nicer 300SD... or a running 300SE since gassers in the same condition usually sell for less. Moving the engine and tranny are easy. Getting the wiring and controls sorted is undocumented territory as far as these archives are concerned. If you're in an emissions test area, you might have some explaining to do when they check the 300SE/D. Sixto 87 300D |
