looking for the location of the thermostat on a 1983 300SD, please be detailed. E.g., if it's on the waterpump tell me where the water pump is. I lost my 123 haines manual so i'm in the dark. Thanks

Locate the bottom hose on the radiator, follow it up until it reaches an aluminum pipe/cover. This aluminum cover has 3 (10mm head) bolts that hold it on, if you take them out the thermostat is behind the cover. Please drain the antifreeze out of the engine/radiator before you remove the cover. The radiator has a drain plug on the bottom facing the ground, just catch the antifreeze in a clean bucket and reuse if necessary.
