ID needed for floor jack

I bought this jack yesterday at a garage sale for $20, needs an o-ring kit, but still lifts fine.

Problem is, I can't figure out how to make it lower, and I'd prefer not to jack the 300sd until I figure that out. Cleaned it up some, can't read anything on the label, and there is nothing written or stamped on it anywhere else.

Does anyone here know what kind of a floor jack this is?
Thanks.

I think it's made by Uni-Directional Jack Co. out of Whaddyadowithitnow, India.

Obviously its a Mercedes Benz diesel floor jack. Otherwise it wouldn't be posted on this forum.

The two piece handle indicates it's likely an Asian import. They're usually not worth repairing, as parts can be very difficult to find. A little patience, however, and I'm sure you can locate the necessary seals.

As for lowering the jack, it looks like the twist-handle variety. There should be a cog at the end of the handle which engages another cog to control the valve.

I'd have passed on that jack, because I've repaired an import jack before, and it was basically more work than it was worth to find the correct parts, but I wish you luck with it.

Funny guys, funny guys...

Figured someone on here might recognize it as one they have. Tried twisting the handle, and while it appears there is a mechanism that turns with it, nothing happens to lower it.

Well, for $10 I figured I would grab it anyway.

Look for a set of mated beveled gears where the handle enters the jack frame. If you see that, you lower by twisting the handle CCW.

What the heck bent that top plate?

If it really is an import, you might need metric o-rings.

McMaster-Carr has a great selection of small metric o-rings.

Try turning the handle CCW then stepping on the lifter.

Okay guys, thanks for all the suggestions. I'll see what I can find, Googling doesn't really turn up much. As for metric, that's the system in use up here "officially", so I might have luck finding an o-ring set.

As for what bent the top plate, I have no idea. The jack is freaking huge...weighs about 100lb. Could have dropped a tractor on it for all I know.

Yes, their o-ring selection is pretty good. Just prey that none of the cupped seals are bad, because those are truly hard to find. I gave up and have dealt with a bad one on my ancient Chinese floor jack. It just makes tiny puddles of hydraulic fluid if weight is left on it for long with a bad cup seal on the ram, and it needs to be topped off with fluid occasionally.

Dirt in the mechanism. Cleaned it out after disassembling it, grabbed a socket and a breaker bar, and broke her free.

BTW, found some letters under the dirt....I think it's a Princess Auto jack.
