Starting problem E300 D
After removing the complete dash and instrument cluster to replace the evaporator core and carefully putting everything back together te car will start and run go down the road with no problem but if you turn the engine off and go to started again it will not start it will crank but not fire, you have to unhook the battery for a couple of minutes and hook it back up before it will fire. Also the battery was out of the car for about two weeks while the AC work was being done. Was wondering if it could the fuel shut off solenoid. Did anybody ever experience this kind of problems

It sounds to me like the theft-prevention system is thinking the car is locked when you try to restart the engine. If it's not locked and the engine won't restart, you might have messed up the wiring somewhere.

Still don't know for certain whether this car has one or not but in gathering relay data I did note that there is a Starter Lock-Out Relay Module K38 located in the dash. You mentioned that you had your dash apart so maybe it didn't get seated properly or is intermittently faulty...or something else. I'm probably wrong and your mileage may vary but here is an image of the location... I just don't quite have grip yet on how the service information is organized and what all the actual and everyday names are of all the parts...much less on grokking how the systems work together. I just remembered reading some threads where folks had cheat sheets or outlines that present a different view of the service material...gotta go!
