Pulling engine

Hi
I am about to pull my engine,.Does anyone have any advice on pulling it, Remove radiator, fan? things like that will make the removal easier. I don't mind if it is extra work, i am planning to have it out for a few months anyway.
Thanks

a load leveler will help .. then you don't have to remove the radiator

I agree with The Don...

Try to pull it with all the accessories on it. It is also easier to remove it with the tranny still attached. Just remove the exhaust from the back of the turbo, the air cleaner assembly, all the fuel lines, electrical connections, fan, and hoses going to the radiator. Then attach the lift to the engine and remove the motor mounts, transmission mounts, and the flex disc.

The radiator is just held in by two clips so it is easy to pull that as well.

What are your plans for it?

Plans are to overhaul it, new sleeves(metric motors will install and hone these.) measure and replace anything thats not spec, and new bearings, seals.Low compression on two cylinders. This car is a hobby as well as a daily driver, so even if it takes several months its not a problem as i have another truck.

I wouldn't take a chance with the radiator. I would pull it. I always used wire ties to hold all the accessories, wiring, etc off to the sides so nothing gets snagged. If you take the trans out with the engine be sure to drain the fluid.

some more tips...

Let me add something...

Leave the Ac compressor in the car if it is working. That way you do not have to purge and fill the system.

Oh and you have to remove the hoses from the power steering pump and the wiring from the alternator. I am sure I am forgetting something else...

I had pulled my radiator because I am a Klutz and I know I would have put the engine through it I did leave the AC condenser, put I put a piece of plywood between it and the engine.
