84TD transmission with elec speedo into 300d

I am currently removing a engine from a 84 TD. I am thinking of Buying the transmission since it looks almost new, But it has an electrical speedo. Is it possible to put an electric speedo into a cable speedo car.the engine is going into a 300d 1981. Blocking off the Sls for the time being although the sls may be nice for towing in a sedan.
Otherwise is this tranny useful to anyone else. Maby I'll trade for a cable drive one. Otherwise I will probably leave it. Maby I will just get it and sell it later.

Could this be a tranny that was originally in a 300SD? I never knew any W123's ever had electric speedo from factory.......

I believe the 1981 300TD was the only 123 with an electronic speedo from the factory.

ITs an 81

I guess it is a 81. I couldnt quite remember. For some reason 84 just stuck in my head. Well I suppose my answer is no,so I guess I'll leave it to the next guy. How hard is it to changeover? Will the sd speedo fit into a 123 guage cluster?

So it was only the wagon that got the electronic speedo in 81? {in the W123's}

That's the way I understood it to be.

I believe you can replace the tail section with your donor transmission with your current one so you can have the cable operated cable.

Transmission details

So the tail pieces will interchange. Correct. I guess I can replace the seals on the old tail piece. This Engine and tranny look new. I pulled the oil pan on the engine and the inside was very clean no oil buildup whatsoever. Judging by the condition of the seals on the tranny it probably new in the not so distant past. not so bad for $300
