$900 turbo rebuild
only person where i live is almost a hour away, he said he would do a trade in with a KKK he has for $650, i had a smile on my face untill i got there and he saw my garrett, he said OH NO i have nothing that looks like that or that will fit that exhaust ,
he cant get a core, my front blade has 3 chips arount the outside outside edge, and he cant get a new 1 he said he can machine it out and put in a bigger blade and a full core rebuild for quoted $900 it should be done in 2-3 days, do you think its going to spool any slower? the extra psi should be nice if i can ever afford a IP upgrade

The Garrett and KKK turbos of the 300 Ds TDs SDs Are basically interchangeable, for $900 I would be a 100 junkyard turbo and risk it..

Have you checked ebay? Here's current listing (closes in 2.5 days) for what looks like a T3; asking price is $59 USD + shipping, and there are no bids yet.

Try Turbo City in California
I'm in the middle of tracking down excessive oil usage ( and still hoping it is not rodbender syndrome). We took off the output of the turbo that goes to the intake manifold. We cleaned the goopy surface and then ran the car for a few minutes. There were swirls of oil working their way up. So I'm trying a turbo rebuild as the next step in my investigation.
I looked around and found Turbo City in California. Let me know if you need help finding their contact info. For about $270 they rebuilt my Garret in 2 days shop time. It is due to arrive on Wednesday and I am hoping to reinstall later this week. Good Luck. Chuck |
