My car is about due for a repaint. I can tell it was in a wreck prior to CarFax record keeping. The original color was dark blue. Right now it's Cabornet. I found dark bue undr some chips on the side and under the hood when I removed some things. I found yellow on the metal that holds the headlights and grill.

I usually would just go original color. The paint job will be cheaper and resale will probably be better too.

If you MUST do a different color, stay with one that is still a Mercedes color and try to do as complete a job as possible. Meaning door james, seams, etc.

I think changing the color would be fine as long as you do a thorough job and have the door jambs, engine compartment, wheel wells, trunk, etc. painted and if you pull all the trim, lights, bumpers, etc. If you don't do that, it'll just look cheap.

If you do you have to remove all the trim, a lot of the stuff in the engine compartment, and paint all the door jams.

Its going to cost more to do right, and if you do it wrong it will look like crap.

I can't imagine doing a decent job of changing colors for any reasonable amount of money. You would have to remove LOTS of stuff under the hood or the old color would be peaking through. I'm not sure how much you would have to disassemble to get all the semi-hidden stuff (underside of the hood, inside trunk, wheel wells, door hinge area, etc.).

Unless you plan on showing it on the concours circuit, paint it whatever color you want. Especially if you plan on keeping it. The only people that will worry about a repaint are the future buyers.

A dark blue or black CD would look sharp. Especially compared to a brown one
