What kind of line are you using (brand, dimensions, etc.) are you using for the injector return line? It tends to brighten things up a bit.

I got the yellow line from NAPA all the other part stores do not have it down here. I just took a piece of the old stuff in and got 3 feet of this stuff.

Don, Mercedes does NOT sell the elbow separately for any OM60X engine. Where exactly did you buy yours?

Yep. The hose is Tecalan (plastic) tubing, and it's heat-shrunk to the fitting. It would be difficult to swap just the elbow without cracking the tubing. Maybe if you carefully apply some heat to it. The OM617 elbow looks like it might work. I'd just replace the whole tube. A new tube should last another 20 years, I'd just shell out the $25 and be done with it. Oh, and replace the grommet every few years, before it fossilizes... that's usually the cause of the broken elbows!

BTW - the rubber grommet in the valve cover will be fossilized, so carefully remove as much as you can in pieces, and use a shop vac to suck out the remnants from the recess in the valve cover (there's a baffle underneath that prevents plastic chunks from getting into the camshaft area).

Ahhhhh.... got it. The link for the fitting above should work fine. Note that if the catch can is open to the atmosphere, you will probably get some oil smell in the passenger compartment. I tried venting my PCV to a bottle for a while but got tired of the odor, so I put it back to stock for now. I'd like to try the type where it connects to the exhaust system and pulls the vapors out that way.

i was just going to go from the can back to the intake elbow just like stock.

my dodge just has a pipe that dumps under the truck and it does stink, especially when i used "Ro-smella-T"

oh ok, i thought that you meant that you got the 6030100370 breather hose and elbow because you said you used heat to get the hose off.

This is a picture of the CCV filter my Dad (Oldiesel) came up with. We used a filter from Northern Tool and the fittings are 1/2 pipe thread. He also fabricated the bracket that makes it look like it belongs there. It's installed on my '93 300D (602).

Here is a link to the filter: http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200331878_200331878

Thanks Matt
A few details on the ccv filter if you decide to do it.1 i dont know how it might work in really cold weather it might freeze up,in Florida it works great.2 when you get the filter look in the inlet port, the hole is small i drilled it out with a 1/2" drill bit which makes it about the same size as the rest of the system.3 I did not use the white filter that comes with it i substituted a piece of 3/4" pvc pipe with alot of holes drilled in it wrapped in a piece of green scrubber pad. I have had the same filter on my jetta for over 2 yrs and there is not a trace of black oil where the vent enters the intake pipe.I cleaned the intake manifold once, that was enough!so now i have cleaned the one on the MB once and dont expect to have to do it again. Don
