Diesel puddle...

Hi all:

I just went out to start the 240 and there's a _puddle_ of diesel under the front of the car . I cleaned the IP off and it's clear that fuel is pouring out of the base of second (from the front) hard line. Until ten minutes ago, I've never noticed a drop of diesel from this car.

Is this the dreaded "ULSD ate my IP seals" problem? What's the best way to diagnose? And, most importantly, how hard is it to replace the seals?

Thanks!

First try tightening the nut on the end of the hard injector line. If that doesn't help, your delivery valve o-ring might have gone south. I would replace all of them if you end up doing one.

If it is your delivery valve seals they are not hard or expansive too change. They are little copper "washers". First make sure the leak is coming from around the base of the delivery valve. I had too do it a couple times on my 240Ds.

Thanks for the quick replies!

I just cycled over to the local Unimog shop (now how many of you can say that ... ) and they pulled one out of their stack of old IPs. Hopefully this will be enough for a temporary fix!
