BAD AC? No! Monovalve Points!
Noble Forum Fellows,
Patient is #2 Car, W123 85 300D Turbo NA, unfortunately converted to 134a by the PO. Wife brings it back from shopping indicating hot air coming from all ducts even though the CCU whiz wheel is MIN and blower on high. Gauges showed OK for both high and low sides, 95 degrees ambient, high humidity. Monovalve plug showed 11.8V. As this valve is normally "open" (always allows hot coolant through unless otherwise shut by voltage), one had to conclude the connection was dirty. As per other threads on fixing switches by cleaning, one of the best tools the classic MB enthusiast can have on his/her shelf is a can of electrical contact cleaner and a pencil eraser or two. Much thanks to all forum members who have kindly gotten me to the level of expertise wherein I can honestly be called dangerous...
