boost controller install

so I've searched and learned many things I always wanted to know about mercedes turbos. However can someone please verify for me that what I want to do when installing a manual boost controller is to place it inline on the wastegate hose? I mean cut the wastegate hose and put the MBC in there, end of story. It seems many others put some sort of T in the wastegate hose and then plumbed an additional line somewhere else off the intake to the boost controller and then to the T fitting on the wastegate hose. Thanks. If its indeed more complicated than I thought, pics are always appreciated.

Cut the hose, insert and clamp, just make sure its in the right way. You got a boost gauge right? Make sure you test the boost settings in all driving settings. Up hill, highways etc.

yes boost guage installed. I suspect lack of fuel is probably going to be the limiting factor here, I've never gotten much black smoke even with the ALDA removed, but we will see. Should've just asked the question two days ago.

Which gage

Krous, which gage did you end up using? I'm looking at doing the same thing and read some stuff here on the Dawes controller. Did the wastegate hose fit the controller or did you have to step down the hose ID?

Thanks!

I got the voodoo mbc from somebody on Ebay. Think I paid about $15 shipped. It would have fit the existing wastegate hose, but I just replaced everything with a reinforced rubber fuel line of some type, 1/4" ID, due to the fact that my probably 22 year old wastegate hose had some deterioration. I think 5 mm would be a better fit than the 1/4" if you go that route, mine's not leaking but I will probably re-do it soon just because it makes me a little nervous.

here's a trick I used...

Before installing the boost controller, I attached the ole' MitiVac to it and set it to open at 13PSI. Once I installed it I confirmed that it worked via the boost gauge I had already installed.

This way it saved me from having to get under the air cleaner "U" tube to adjust the controller.
