I have bad news for you. On a wagon, You need to remove the liner, peel the foam AND remove the entire sunroof assembly to get to the 6mm allen screws of the middle braces. The fronts and back braces can be removed without any difficulty. If it is acceptable for your paint job to leave the middle braces I would recommend you to go that route. Putting back the 45lb sunroof assembly required 2 people.

Now let me tell you that to remove the liner you need to get the back quarter windows out. That is in itself a project. (luckily it is a wagon, i nthe case of the sedan you need to remove the back window!!!)

The roof racks on a wagon are held in place by 3 braces each. One in the front, one in the back and one just above the B pillar, which is nigh impossible to remove without taking the car apart. If we are not talking about a w123 wagon (T123!!!) ignore the comments.
