My 240D is SO quiet now!
well since i have owned my 240D the pipe between the resonator and muffler has been missing. so it was dumping exhaust strait out the resonator, it was quite loud.
today i took it to Midas and had them remove the resonator and fix the exhaust, i never knew the car was that quiet. problem is now i can hear other noises my car is making that i could not hear before, like i have a ticking noise during acceleration.

Now try driving a 300D with its extra sound insulation...that's why I call mine "the cloud"

You call that diesel sound quiet???!!
Car and Driver tested an '82 300SD and said it "Sounded like a basket of castinets clacking as the car crawled on its hands and knees to 60 mph"
Nonetheless, tons of people in the Reagan years bought them. If you want quiet, buy a Rolls Royce, guys. At 60 mph the only sound you hear will be the ticking of your pacemaker
