Is my 300sd a Euro model?

I have a 1983 300sd. Im having problems getting the right brake booster hose. The hose on it now has two nipples for the transmission and the (I believe) air reservior located on the main valve next to each other. The one I got has the two nipples located farther up the line closer to the vacuum pump and about a foot apart from each other. I was told this hose is the only hose for my car.
I got the car from the original owner who traveled to Germany to pick it up. It has US spec bumpers, electric windows, tan m-b tex interior. 3.0 turbo automatic. I truly believe it is a us spec model. VIN #WDBC820A7DB038538. Is there any place I can look the vin up??

Thanks.

BTW; I know how lucky I am. The guy had every receipt of every dime he had put into it. He took better care if the car than he did himself. He looked like a mess!

Most definitely a US model. W126s diesel were never available in Europe.

Best regards.

A diesel W126....not too fun on the autobahn, but perfect for the ultra-slow USA freeways, thats why it was never sold there. The speed demon diesel of Europe at the time was the N/A 300D W123, with a 5 speed manual. My dad said he drove several of them back then, and that they were quick!

All euro W126's had either the 280 6cyl, or a 380/420/500/560 v8 with lots of them being 280, 380, and 500's. Later on they probably had the 300 gasser I6 to replace the 280....but during the time of our diesels those were the gasser W126 engines.

That vacuum hose is the correct, new, replacement hose. I did this job on my car. You have to use some extra vacuum hose to run to the connections leading into the cabin.

I'll try to get pics of what I did....

Here is a link to where I was asking the exact same question you are...:

Not many answers there for you....but....again, I'll try to get pics of what I did.

I went to the MB dealersyhip with questions about my 78 300D. MB told me, based on my VIN that I had a grey market MB. Parts would not be a problem, maybe a bit slower due to delivery from Germany.

Great car! Working small odds and ends but, fun to drive.
