Question '83 380 SEC as parts source for '83 300D turbo?

My neighbor has a beat up 1983 380 SEC that he's taking a few parts off of for a customer. He offered to let me pull any parts I might want for my 1983 300D turbo before he has it taken away for scrap.

I tried to do the parts cross reference thing, but got nowhere -- I could only find a few minor parts that have the identical part numbers -- but I'm really more interested in what's bolt-in and functional compatible.

Anyone have any recommendations for compatible parts I should pull before he gets rid of it? The 80A alt? CCU? sunroof motor? steering gearbox?

Why dont you drive your car up next to it? Decide from hands-on visual instead of wasting time cross-referencing parts numbers. And the general rule for stockpilers is they never use the parts they stash. If yer car dont need it, let it slide.

Very little is compatible. It's a completely different body and completely different drivetrain.

If the guy will give it to you, part it out and E-bay it. give you some
income to keep yours running.

tell the guy you will take it off his hands to help him out.

like said above, these are two totally different cars.

Ok. Thanks all for responding. It didn't look like too much was compatible via the part numbers, but I figured I'd ask as well since the parts are free for the taking.

As for getting it and parting it out myself, I did toy with the idea, but don't have time for such a project. Besides, the high dollar parts are gone anyway - -the motor (run out of oil) and the tranny (already swapped.. pity too since the .310 is very similar to the .315 I have).

A lot of parts are the same too. trunk lid, taillights, rear bumper, suspension parts, steering parts, springs and shocks, rear brakes, front brakes are different but interchangible, dash, consol, shifter, window swithces. door latches, hinges,

I will take the all aluminum lower rear suspension a arm for the right price.

Thats a nice neighbor
Hope you can get some good parts

I'm in need of front & rear license brackets for my 500 SEC Euro.
Haven't started the CA junkyard search yet.

Do you think these parts are rusted as you say its pretty beat up?...

Maybe we could both get a lil something out of it?

Nah, we've used at least 5-6 of the several dozen stashed parts we have.

Umm... most of the things you listed are not interchangeable between the C126 and W123.

speedo?

If that has a 2.47 diff...I would be interested in the speedo. (scrape dirt off edge of housing lower left side of gasket surface just at the edge of the cover, and it will say 2.47 or whatever the ratio is)

I'll check on those plate brackets since it is a euro. Front might be bent since it was run into something as parts of its demise.

Tom W: Sorry on the rear A-arm -- unless one of his friends decides to part it out for some spare cash (I'll ask).

Alberta: sorry, instrument cluster was already removed by PO.

Oooops!

Sorry.

I thought he was talking 126 sedan to 126 coupe. That makes a lot less things. There are some though.

a 126 coupe should be a 2:47 unless euro, then it will be a 2:24.
