Front End Squeak
What is the most common cause of the front end squeak on the 126 chassis? Have checked my ball joints, bushings, strut bushings, and they seem fine. I did have a leak at the oil cooler awhile ago that sprayed onto the lower control arm and brake components, and yes it did destroy the strut to arm bushing and the dust seals in the caliper. Replaced them and still have the squeak.
Was thinking about rebuilding front end but the parts seem fine so it would be a waste of money and time. It sounds like it may be coming from the coil spring as it only does it during an up and down movement. Doesnt do it when the wheels are turned. Is there a bushing or pad between the coil and the lower conrtol arm that may have wore out that may be causing the squeak? |

Could be a dry ball joint that has not loosened up quite yet. But give it some time.... Test by injecting some oil with a syringe through the dust cover. If squeak goes away, you've found it. Jim |
Look at your upper control arm - that was the problem on my SDL. You can't really lubricate it without removing and...if you are going to remove you might as well replace the bushings.
