Verify allen & socket bit size motor mount
Hi Ya'll,
After spending some time going over the forum I noticed conflicting sizes on motor mount allen wrench size, and nothing on my 1984 190d 2.2. Are theses sizes correct: Bottom motor mount bolt - 8mm allen Top bolts that attach mount to frame - 6mm sockets Loosen center bolt - 17mm O yes, on the passenger side the metal plate that covers the mount is cracked about in half. Will that make any difference? I thought about getting it welded. Well, I guess that's about it. I hope I can have the new mounts on by noon tomorrow - I took off the plastic covers tonight. Thanks. hsmith 1984 190d 2.2, blue, 132,456 miles |

Allen bolt sizes sound about right. And the metal plates are there to keep diesel fuel and oil from corroding the rubbers. If it's the later style bladder mounts, then replace em with solid rubbers. And count on retorquing the mounts in another 5k miles. Probly will need to do tranny mounts too, otherwise the engine will tilt backwards.
