Rear brakes...

Ok. I found out my rear pads are pretty low... anything different about replacing these as opposed to the front?

thanks

There's no wear sensors... so its a little different. and....they are physically smaller....

Fixed Piston Easier than Floating Calipers

Just wanted to put my two cents in comparing changing pads on floating calipers vs Fixed Piston. The first brake jobs I did were drum brakes on a 3/4 ton truck, then floating calipers on cars and trucks. Everything was stuck, nothing slid, and the pad wear was always uneven. Then I did a pair of brakes on an Opel GT with ATE calipers- you could change the pads in under 5 minutes per side! There is no comparison on how much easier these fixed piston calipers are to replace.

No joke, I changed those back pads in under 1hr for both sides, and I am clumsy and slow. Those little pads are so cute.

The first disc brake pads I ever did was on my 74 saab.

I knew I needed new ones and we were getting ready to go south the day before either christmas or new year. I went out around 200 in the afternoon but all the repair shops had started drinking early, so I went over to my FIL's house and did it in their garage. I already had the pads and was well experienced with drum brakes.

So I just did it. It was so easy I just chuckled the whole time.

After you have done a few, it takes longer to jack up the car and take off the wheel than actually changing the pads as long as it is routine.

My dad used to say it was just like making a ham sandwich.
