So far I have not seen any auto part stores carry Redline Diesel Treatment in my area, as well as different parts of the country that I frequently travel to (Seattle, Vegas, Dallas).
The local MB dealer gets $6.00 a bottle. A dealer in Tacoma WA charges $8.50 per bottle. I found a source http://www.importpartsspec.com/shop/ that has it at your door step for $3.99 a bottle + shipping. If you have a better source, please post it. Thanks |

Hey there TXBill,
I am curious as to your experience with that ‘Power Service’ fuel additive. I actually bought some at a local AutoZone store three weeks ago when I first bought my car (“grannies” immaculate 1984 300D) – I couldn’t find any of the Redline products at that time, but have since found the 85+. I used the ‘clean up dosage’ of the Power Service stuff on my first tankfull, and then started using the 85+. SO… I have never run the car without any additives in the tank; therefore I don’t really have a comparative baseline. Have you done any type of back-to-back comparisons? It seems that everyone here is very partial to the Redline DFC or 85+, and I am wondering why. Is it really superior to the others? I also (please don’t laugh, at least not too much) found ‘STP Diesel Fuel Sulpher Substitute’ on a close out at 99 cents a bottle. It is for lubricity only, and does not increase Cetane numbers. I kind of think that you usually get what you pay for, and 99 cents – well, I haven’t worked up the nerve to try any of the STP, although I thought about combining it with some of the others to make my own sort of witches brew. And on one tank, I used some of the Lubro-Moly Diesel fuel additive. Not the Diesel Purge, although I ran that through the pump & injectors last week. Today, when I filled up, I used the 85+ and some “Diesel Doctor” which is an antibacterial or antimicrobial agent. I don’t think I have an algae problem, but I figured what the heck, might as well kill off anything that *could* be in there. You know what, I think that I’m beginning to understand why my girlfriend wants to keep me out of the kitchen – who knows what sort of mess I can concoct in there . |

Bill,
No Pep Boys around my area. I understand paying for shipping on liquids can get expensive. But the only source I've found locally is the dealer and when I paid $8.50 it seemed like I was getting the shaft as well. My local dealer is a half hour drive one way with no traffic. So a five minute phone call to order up some Redline and a year's supply of filters sent to my doorstep is worth a few bucks for shipping. I just posted the source to possibly help out someone with a difficult time locating Redline at a reasonable price. |

It's about $4 at Pep Boys in my area. That's if they have it, and often they don't. But the real story here is that it's 3.69 at the Exxon station near my MB dealer in St. Petersburg. So don't overlook the gas stations!
