Replacement alternaters and regulators... '83 300D
I purchased a new alternator for my old one had decided to fall apart.
The new(rebuilt) one looked identical to the old(which I threw away) but now that it is installed, it is not charging the battery. Was I given an alternator without a regulator, thus no charge for the battery? The battery is new also. I dont recall seeing a regulator on the old one or this one, tho that is only a recollection. Ideas?... Thanks |

If all the wires hooked back up, in the correct spots, then you should have a new regulator. The regulator is attached to the alternator on this model.
Have you checked the ground straps, and verified there is no charge with a volt meter?

What have you done to confirm its not charging? is there 12 volts present on the large wire attached to the alternator?
