84 300CD whats it worth

I have a 84 300 CD that i rescued from the junk yard and was going to be my daily driver. However I cannot get it titled. Ill know more later this week as to why but I thought it had a salvage title but now Im told its just a letter to allow it to be dismantled not resurected.?! I dont know but now I may have to sell it as I have no where to store it no the finances to try for a bonded title, if I can get one. Anyone know what I should sell it for? go here for pics http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/vbpicgallery.php?do=big&p=2029

Go to your dmv and do a title search for the previous owner ,you can still get a title with their help.Explain your situation to the counter help at the dmv ,they should be more helpful than the yard hands at the junkyard. Those guys just crush stuff and drink beer .If the previous owner can do a lost title then your golden ,thats if they didnt hand the title over to the dismantlers ,then their the new owners and you can pretty much forget about it then .Their paper work is used as napkins when a sandwich gets to messy.

Can you register it in a state that has no title requirements? Georgia maybe?

Lewisville huh? Maybe Armando needs a CD......
It can be semi-expensive to go the bonded title route, and you can't really get rid of it for several years I don't think. You have to wait for the surety bond to run it's course.
Best bet is to try the DMV route, then check into the specific info for a surety bond. Maybe somebody will make an offer for parts value, but that isn't just a whole lot.
Hmmm, isn't that vin plate on the A-pillar just held on by a couple of rivets?
Maybe bondo over the Chassis # on firewall....
In all candor, value isn't worth the risk of getting caught doing that.
So.....whatcha gonna do with those seat covers........

Armando / Jimmy / Shell

I think Armando and I both live in Lewisville... we might have to come steal your CD as neither of us have one - we will just use Jimmy as an accomplice.

If you were a little closer I'd make you an offer for parts.

That car sure looks too good to part out. Do they have such a thing as a salvage title in Texas? I would think that the junk yard should be able to give you either the original title or some other bill of sale if you bought the car. Can't believe this would be the first time the DMV would have come across this problem. If the junk yard didn't title the car (most likely didn't) and doesn't have the title, then maybe you could go back to the last owner and have them submit an application for a replacement title and bypass the junk yard completely. The previous owner could then just sign the car over to you, and you could give them something for their trouble. Maybe not 100% legit, but might work.

I can't believe Texas is so backward about this. Here in Arizona, all you need is a receipt and then after it's been repaired you go for a vehicle inspection where they make sure it has turn signals, horn, stop lamps, etc.... and your good to go!

non title state

You can get it registered in NH with no title; there has to be a way that someone in this situation with an old car and no title who moves to Texas can still get it registered. Don't scrap her yet!

Backward? Arizona's system opens the door for stolen vehicles. It's been a huge stolen vehicle issue around the Texas border now that some of the cities across the river will register a car in Mexico with just a bill of sale.

I got the car from a friend that owns a junk yard and he bought it at a insurance auction. He said he had a salvage title but he cant find it. I have another guy who has connections at a bank(wife) and she did some research and found the auction that sold it and they, supposedly, were getting a duplicate copy of the title. I haven't gotten what they sent in the mail yet so Im gonna wait and see. No you cant steal it. I keep a watchful eye on it so the apt complex doesnt tow it. Ive told them of my problem and are somewhat considerate. Havent towed it yet anyway. If I can get $1500 for it as is Ill be good. It runs great and shifts fine, drove it for 2 weeks till temp tag ran out and loved it.

I will drive the getaway car. Wait, I have 67 horse power. Uh, Shell will drive the get-away car........
Armando will distract you showing his Mafia Mobile.
I will slip into the CD and steer as Dan winches it up onto his trailer.
And the Hitman will convince you that we were never there.
Then we will have Paul explain to you how it wasn't possible for the likes of us to pull that off.....
Ralph is going to store the car for us......(under his new carport)

title problem

email me charlie at airmail. net I'd love to swap stories I replaced a lost title in Denton County with no problem years ago who knows what that's like now. $1500 for your car sounds like a steal I don't have room for it but would love to see it anyway.
