auto tranny swap now middle drive shaft too short

i got this car from a guy that was trying to install a 722.118.02.078390 (has the bowden cable and red vac modulator) versus the original 722.118.02.153572 (uses just the red vac modulator). in the end it didnt work so i've put the orginal transmission back in. problem now is the middle drive shaft (shorter) seems to be too short. it fits but you can see alittle less than a 1/4in of the spline where it meets the bearing. this shorter drive shaft is about half the diameter of the longer one. do i have the right one?

I/4" is just fine. A 200-240D will around 1.5 inches of spline.
