New MB fuel return lines B99 OK?

I run B99 in my 300D and have replaced all my fuel lines with new lines. All the non-return lines I actually did with extra thick and resistant marine diesel lines. Question about the return lines: the NAPA lines I've put on the return seem to be sweating and getting soft after 2-3 tanks of B99. Are the new MB cloth covered return lines I can buy from this site made with synthetic rubber and thus OK with biodiesel? It's hard to find the small diameter lines and I can't find anything here in the forum that answers this question.

Thanks for any help.

The OE hose will be just fine for B99 applications.

Gates or Dayco Fuel Injection hose in 5/16" work well and are B100 compatable.

Thanks for the tips. About that poly line from the lawnmower shop...I went to my local rental shop looking for small diameter fuel hose for return lines and they showed me this orange (I think) colored line they use for all their equipment. Said it was great stuff. But, they didn't know whether it would stand up to the alcohol in B99.

Has anyone actually used that colored poly line on their return lines with biodiesel? Just curious.

I would have thought the new NAPA line would have been fine, as I thought all fuel lines post 1996 or something were made with synthetic rubber and thus B99 compatible. They sure do seem to be softening and weeping fuel though.

Are you refering to PVC, or is this a different kind of clear line?

If you are really concerned about it put some of my viton fuel return lines on. Viton is the material of choice for biodiesel and it is cheaper than the OE stuff to boot.

I buy from fastlane whenever I can. They don't sell viton components...so I do!

Hello Jadavis,

Just thought I'd give you a heads up, I posted a link to your site to a pretty popular listserve. We have been having a running discussion re: OEM vs. Viton and the smart money ended up on the latter. I've got a '98 E300DT that I run on B100 whenever possible and had to run a few tankfuls of dino. Suddenly I'm smelling diesel...grrrrrr. Anyway, I'm going to poke around and see what I can find under the hood but will probably try and replace everything I can. So expect a big order.

I love McMaster, but their minimum shipping charge is about $4.50. They ship everything by UPS and their smallest box results in the $4.50 charge.

Like I said, I love McMaster! I've placed my order at 5:30pm on a Friday and got my package on a Monday before. I've also had to wait a couple of days for a shipment before. They pack it and get it out the door to UPS as fast as they can. Sometimes it is reasonable (a day or two), sometimes it is lightining fast (same day shipping). I'm sure it depends on how busy they are.
