SDL high speed vibration

Hello
I have a 87 300SDL with 188,000 miles on it.
Recently went on a 1,500 miles trip which consisted of 1,300 miles of interstate roads that I drove 70-80 mph on.

I noticed that speeds of 70 or above I got a vibration in the car, felt mostly
in my seat and a little in the steering wheel, I could take my hands off the wheel and it would track good down the road.

I drove the 700 miles down to my destination and had the wheels balance then rotated, this did not stop the vibration on the return trip.

Here is a list of front suspension parts that have been changed within the last couple years.

lower ball joints
steering damper
tie rod assem
idler arm
drag link
shocks
tires

Most of my driving has been in the range of 55-65 mph and I feel no vibration
at those speeds.

Anyone here have an idea of what to look for??

What kind of vibration? Fast slow? Buzzing? Any sounds?

^^
That's a tough one.
No sounds, just a slight side to side motion thats noticeable in the seat and a little in the steering wheel, for the most part it was constant at those speeds. I never tried going any faster.
Every once in awhile when I changed lanes it would stop. I thought maybe it was just the road surface, but it's just too constant to be that.

I have checked the flex disc and they appear in good shape.

I tend to agree however my experience with bad tires has always been EXTREMELY noticeable at low speeds.

Get your tires balanced. That would be my first step before proceding further.

The tires have less then 8k, new last summer "06"

I had the tires balanced and rotated at the end of the 700 mile drive, there
was no difference in vibration on the return trip.

I've been fighting the same problem. First, I had a bent rim (actually 3), secondly, tie rod ends, then alignment, and when I got the car, I had the front end rebuilt, along with new tires....

I still think that my problem is tires...

The tires can be perfectly balanced and they'll shake horribly if they are out of round. All tires are out of round.........it all depends on how much.

Find a perfectly smooth road.

Drive the vehicle at exactly 7-8 mph.

If you find your head swaying from side to side...........the tire(s) are out of round.

If you have Goodyear tires.........or any off brand manufactured by Goodyear.........you can dispense with the above test and just replace the tires.

W126's are notorious for picking up any imperfections in the tire - improper inflation will even cause some erratic handling.

I have a 1984 380 SE it sat for 2 years on new rubber(Remington Premier Something or other SBR's )I have a vibration at about 70 or so also. The tires were brand new 2 years ago and not driven at all, maybe from the tire shop home. I know tires flat spot if they set for an extended length of time(radials or not). I do not know if the flat spots ever recover.
I suspect that the tires need to be balanced and rotated and will attend to that tomorrow. I feel the Vibration in the steering wheel, but not the Shifter(because it's not connected to the tranny directly.) Vibration is transferring to the car body as my rear view mirror is toast(sun baked and the actuator broken out)vibrates a lot also.
I also know that the spare Mag wheel is bent per PO. Now i wonder if any or all the other four are bent too.

Any suggestions?

Have you checked the engine shocks? I had a similiar symptom and found that the passender side engine shock had loosened and was not doing its job as a result. made a huge difference at idle and higher RPM travel on the Hwy.
