Trunk lock mechanism sticky

I finally got a new vacuum element for the trunk, but I can't get the central locking system to work on the trunk. When the locks go down, the trunk element bends the little metal arm on the trunk lock engage mechanism. Up does a similar thing, just in a different direction. Anyone else with a W123 replace one of these to have the push-button trunk pop feature still not work? I would guess that the arm is not supposed to bend...

The same thing happened to my car after changing the element. so I removed it and pluigged the lines. Now I have to manually lock the trunk, but now I can open it when it is unlocked.

I'm tired of having to use the key, especially when I have to get other people's stuff out of the trunk when I drive them home (pretty much every day). I'd really like it to work...

I can see how it is supposed to work, but I can't get the vacuum element to do it.

I had the same problem. The was too much friction due to dirt and lack of lube in the lock. I took the lock out, cleaned with WD40 then lubed with grease and its been working fine since.

Oh btw I did this to the 240D and 300DT and both have been working fine with the vacuum element.
