Our New To Us 300SD

Thanks to Lance, Brian, and Tom for their advice on this purchase. Here are pics of our 83 300SD purchased yesterday. 146k miles, one owner. A/C still R12 and works! Sunroof works. Cruise does not work. Two rust spots on R passenger door, none anywhere else so far. Needs new control arm bushings, some seat work, fuel hose from tank replaced, antenna mast replaced, and some minor dings fixed. Runs smooth.

So far, I have repaired driver's side window switch (drove it home 245 miles with window down) and changed oil and filter, fuel filters, air filter, PS filter and fluid. Scheduled next week for front end work, tranny filter and fluid, differential fluid, and body work.

Happy so far and my wife likes it too!

Any and all suggestions welcomed.

John

What a beautiful car John. I love silver Mercedes, of any model. The repairs you need to do may seem like a lot, but they are basically all mundane and easy fixes most of them expected on a 20+, year old vehicle. Looks as though you scored a pretty sound machine, and made a very nice investment. Best of luck to you, with it John.

Yep. I think I've got to find a 126.

That is a really fantastic example you've got! Geeze.

Outstanding.

Thanks everyone. It's at the shop now for front end work and tranny flush. Then the body shop to take care of the two rust spots. I'll update when she's back.

Nice score!

Just be sure not to drive it around there from about now, through November...unless you want a rutting deer ornament on the hood in place of your star!

Ah, I do love that interior color - galaxy blue? My '84 has that in MB-Tex but it's trashed

Seems your dash has few if any cracks, which is amazing from what I've seen.
