190D - how many mufflers does this thing have?!

Greetings, eh?

So I had a little collision between my exhaust pipe and a car hoist. The mechanic band-aided the solution by clamping a piece of resonator pipe between the bend in the pipe and the mid-body muffler, but he recommends that I replace this pipe with something permanent. Excellent advice.

So I'm checking:
https://b2b.bosalnafta.com/products/
for details on mufflers (I got there from searching exhausts on ***************) and I find that there are three mufflers listed for my car - a 1989 190D 2.5 from Canada. Dig the attachment for a picture.

When I was last under my car, I only remembered seeing two mufflers - one mid-body, and another right on the tailpipe. Should there be three? Should there be two? Anyone know?

Thanks again for your help, everyone.

There is no turbo to muffle the exhaust so it needs more mufflers to do the work.

I'm not *saying* there should be three. I'm just confused as well. ^)_(^

Bosal is an aftermarket dealer, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that they have a solution that differs from the stock Mercedes setup. I haven't been under any other 190Ds, so I don't know if my setup is different than anyone else's.

When I bought my car, I was told that there was some work done on the exhaust that didn't use Mercedes parts. So when I saw a picture of an exhaust setup that had more mufflers than what I had, I figured that the person who did the work must've just slapped in some pipe, rather than replace a broken muffler or resonator.

Thanks for the pics and the help, guys. Much appreciated. My mechanic recommends getting a whole new exhaust pipe and having it welded in professionally. I think that's what I'll be doing.
