Specs for screw on front spindle locknut?
 

The Allen-head screw broke on the spindle locknut on my 1983 300D. :eek:

Honestly, I wasn't cranking hard on it-just waiting for it to set. I found an 8mmX1.00 screw, but I don't think the pitch is 1.00 on the locknut. Does anyone know the size of this screw? Are there any strength requirements?

I think that lock screw is a 6mm x 1.00 thread.

Chas- thanks for your help! Indeed, it is a 6mmx1.00 screw. The one I got from the hardware store was in the wrong bin-NAPA dude set me straight today. Tested new screw in other side and worked perfectly. So...

my locknut threads have been stretched (which is prolly why the bolt snapped). I'm 3 for 3 with the die this year which means: either I'm good at this or my luck is about to run out.:grim:
