alignment shop in North Tampa

anyone know a good alignment shop in Tampa? I was holding off fixing this car in case I find a better car so I could sell this one cheap, but it is eating the front right tire from the inside edge out. That wheel was curbed pretty hard by the PO so I dont know if there is a bent component, the other front tire is even. and if known, please tell me cost. Also, as i searched I found something about weight in the driver seat, is this totally necissary?

Thanx

Scott

Alignment shop

Scott-

You might try Mercedes Complete at 4411 North Lois Avenue, its just north of Martin Luther King in the Drew Park area. The phone number is 870-1250. I have not had an alignment done there , but I asked about it recently when I had my transmission and differential flushed. They said they do alignments and all other Mercedes repairs.

I normally bring my car to a dealership that has a laser alignment machine. The specs of 300D's are in the machine's computer. There is nothing special or unique about aligning a W123 car. Cambers, toe's, etc are adjustable.

Our Ford dealer has such a machine and I have been bringing my D's to them and have always had good alignment results. I also insist that one particular mechanic who mainly does alignments do the work.

They charge $51.99.

Reason I'm sharing this is that one does not have to search out a specialty or import place that charges an arm & leg just because you have a Benz. Of course, initially, one needs to do some leg work in finding a good, competent and reliable resource.

I moved from Lutz about 4 years ago but I remember a good tire store on 41 about a mile south of where Sunset crosses 41, not as far down as the Publix store. I doen't remember the name of the place but they were able to correct some problems that I had after another shop screwed up the car that I had at that time.

I just remembered the name, it was Dumas Tires. They sell tires, do front end work, alignments etc.

I believe you are referring to:
Dumas Tires Inc.
17324 US Hwy. 41 North
Lutz, FL
813-949-8095

There's also this one that is highly recommended:

Fred Cox Automotive and Alignment
13950 N. Florida Ave.
Tampa, FL
813-961-3511

It must be nice to live in Sonoma County, CA...we're still sweating here in Tampa.

That was probably Transwheel. I used them for several things and they were fantastic. Alas, they closed that store and it now houses a pool & spa dealer.

We are originally from the greater San Francisco area but decided to give Florida a try and lived in Lutz for five years. I think the thing I miss most from Florida is the warm evenings, its getting down into the upper 40s at night now. When we were in Florida I missed hills ( anything over 100 feet is considered a mountain in Florida)

I stopped over at Dumas, they couldnt get me in until tuesday afternoon. It is only about 2 miles from my house. I didnt know it was there because I would take Crenshaw Lake road to south 41 and Crystal Lake road to north 41 so I never really went between the two. Thanx for the tip

Hi lutzTD,

Let me know how Dumas works out, I'm looking for a shop to do my alignments.

Also, the last time I took Crenshaw Lake Road from 41 to Simmons/Van Dyke, I couldn't believe all of the speed bumps that were installed. I was going over to Al's mower shop on Dale Mabry to pick up a new Snapper lawn mower and my SLK didn't like those speed bumps....they're really high!
I ended up taking 54/56 back to Bruce B. Downs....much smoother ride.

Dave

Yeh tell me about it, they added those on both Crenshaw Lake and Crystal Lake right after I moved in to my house on Simmons. The ones on Crenshaw are horrible, they are smaller on Crystal but it is way curvier so they didnt really need them. I should send my alignment bill to Hillsborough County

I'm trying to remember these streets. We lived in the Manors of Crystal Lakes on the west side of 41, Sunset is on one side of 41 and the Manors is on the other side of the same intersection(Crystal Grove Blvd). It was our first and only experence living in a gated community and they were always upset that I worked on my own cars.
