injectors-clean and rebuild or new ones!?

If it is going to cost me $22 each to get the injectors cleaned and pop-tested plus extra if I need parts, doesn't it make more sense to buy new ones? I'm asking because I haven't messed with injectors before. If I buy replacement injectors, will I need to do anything to them or just screw them in? Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you need to replace the heat shields anytime you remove the injectors?

Thanks.

Doesn't take much to pull apart, but a vise and a big wrench is a big help. There are springs and shims in side that can be replaced depending on result of pop test. You might want to do a purge first. I paid $12 for the test, $20 each for new nozzles. And I recommend replacing those washers. Cleaning consists of pulling apart, and spraying with brake cleaner.

Theres lots of info on injectors if you do a search. Have them tested, if they pop and pattern well then you don't have a problem. Reinstall with new heat shields. If one or more are bad then you have a few options. Try to find German Bosch nozzles and have them rebuilt or do it yourself. Recommend they are tested after homebuilding. Some here have had good experience with Fratelli Bosio nozzles. Do not, I repeat, do not bother with Bosch nozzles made in India. They appear to have QC issues. RT
