looking for part #
 

I am looking for the part # and name of the little white things in
the box on top of my valve cover on my 83 300 CD. I am hoping
replacing them will help my shifting problem. The problem I am
having is a lot of flare shifting from 2nd to 3rd. Also has that
clunk when it shifts from 2nd to 1st when I am coming to a stop.
No flare from 4th to 3rd, only 2nd 3rd. If I keep my foot down when
it flares it will clunk into 3rd. Thanks, Jason

They control nothing but the EGR valve. If they leak, they
can adversely affect your vacuum and thus your shift quality.
I replaced mine, and it did nothing. Then I bypassed them,
and shifting improved.

Save your money and get rid of them.

For what it's worth, Diesel Giant has a DIY on these things. Bergsma at **************.com also has a kit, I think. My 85's have some other micro switch widget.
