Trans on 1985 300SD jerks on downshift 4 to 3.

As I am slowing down and the trans drops out of 4th at about 10mph, there is a noticeable jerking in the drive train. If I shift by hand it is slightly reduced. Car has 260,000mi and was supposed to have been rebuilt prior to 240,000mi, but I have no proof. Shifts OK going up with some light & unpredictable flair on 2 to 3 shift.
