Sloppy shifter linkage.

My shifter linkage is a little sloppy. Is there a bushing or something to fix this ans where would it go?

There are two bushings. One at the bottom of the shifter and one on the selector on the trans. The one on the shifter is easily done by removing the shiftre assy. and replacing it on the work bench. Depending wether you are talking about the 240 or the 300 on the trans end is a different story. The 240, the arm removes from the transmission and the bushing can be replaced on the bench. The 300 needs to have the trans lowered so you can get into replace it.

If the sloppiness is horizontal, the bushings inside the shift gate mechanism are bad. There are two.

If the sloppiness is forwards/backwards, the bushings below the car beside the transmission housing are bad. There are two.

I've replaced all four now, snug fit! Symptoms of bad bushings under the car include the shifter not setting properly into P or park, so the car does not start. Wiggle shifter and retry, so it restarts.
