Wife says Nah to second SD from my trusted mechanic!

I have been using this rare MB shop owner (Peter) since he was a one man operation. He know our cars and is a good man.

I get a call from his service manager that they just got a 1985 300sd that they have been servicing for years up for sale in their sales lot. He said it is sweet and thinks I may be interested in having a look at it. I passed by and checked it out. Wow! And almost 100,000 miles less then my sd. Being married for many years to the same women I thought that I should run it by her first. I showed her this car on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280162280268
to which she said, sure, but we have no more room, which car do you want to keep. The sales price on the lot was $8,900.00 the ebay bids where still under $3,000.00.

I thought maybe I could get use to life without a wife.

You are driving a car that you bought new 25 yrs ago. If you don't have room for 2 and are not in the market for a divorce. I would stick with the devil you know.
1 owner car are great to have
only owner.....pricless.

Just keep up with that clock under the hood, and you will have many more miles to go. just my .02 worth

don't press your luck

The fact that she "allows" you to own one should be enough to keep you happy. If you have convinced her owning a 20+ year old car is doable, then maybe you can upgrade and sell your old baby.

Marriage is great. If I didn't have my wife, I would have to pay to have someone wash my fleet, bring me beer and rub my feet.

The 1985 300SD in the ebay auction link looks like a real low mile beauty in verry good condition, unrusted, unwrecked and uncooked by the Florida sun.

I would be all over that one if I had the need for one now and the room to park it.

One that nice are hard to find and that is a VER good engine in a body style that I really like a lot (the SWB 126 sedan).

good point

Good point, I thought it had fewer miles. Plus, he might have the "itch" to get something else, you know, to work on......

it's very important in a man's life to keep money/ relationships-wives/ and cars completely separate. very important.
also, the car has a grey interior. grey. who really likes grey. grey, what does it makes you think of; old. boring. bland. not cool. corporate. suits. wool.
never buy a car with a grey or blue interior my friends. don't do it!

I love the gray interior. I'd like either a black (with gray outside trim) and gray interior. Or gray interior with champagne exterior....

Black w/gray inside = my favorite, and I am only 21! (Most people would place me as "living as though I am 45" though....

Remember this...

....it's far better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Usually my wife finds out about a new car when it arrives home.
Sometimes much later if I can get it into the shop without her noticing...

Jim
