Weird electronic symptoms - ?
Hey everyone. I've got some strange behavior with the electronics on my '84 300D. Here's what it's doing:
First, the rear defrost does not work. Second, the lights that illuminate the climate control buttons are out. Now for the weird part--if I push in the consol that restricts control of the rear windows, and tell my daughter in the back to try rolling down her window, then the dash lights come on (but only WHILE she's holding down the button, and NOT if the window button is activated). I have no idea how these things might be related, but I thought I'd see if anyone here had experienced something similar. |

A short somewhere, perhaps. You may need to go into the console to see if there is a problem of some sort, good luck.

I agree. There is a short. My guess is in the console switch that powers the rear window your daughter used. Does this happen to the other rear window as well?
Pull the console switch that operated the window your daughter was using and check for corrosion on the pins. If they look ok, and while the switch is unplugged, plug the switch into another location(front window for example) and see if you get the same results. If so replace the switch. If you are handy at DIY disassemble and clean the contacts in the switch. |
