Vacuum Doodad

OM603 non turbo. On the drivers side of the engine block down low near the starter there is a vacuum cylinder with four ports on it of some sort. It appears to be disconnected from the outter two ports that are on it, with really no trace of where they go. There is some port on the bottom of the airbox that has also been disconnected and I am wondering if they are related at all. The two ports that are connected seem to vent the crankcase or something of the like. Can anybody shed some light on what this does or is supposed to do?

Thanks in advance

Kurt Kiefer
