Ebay 300D -trying to sell it on its"snob" factor?!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1985-Mercedes-Benz-300D-Turbo-Diesel-91-275-Miles_W0QQitemZ140167225817QQihZ004QQcategoryZ6330QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

this guy goes to great length to impress with this car's 'pedigree'!

I hate to spoil his "ORIGINAL owner" rampage but the title transfer to his sister 3 months ago means that it's a 2 owner car.

Air conditioner, FM radio out but AM works, left signal fails to automatically return to neutral and repeatedly locking steering wheel are pretty BIG negatives for a $5,400 car! That auto-cancel problem would make it fail inspection in some areas.

If I am reading this correctly the auction has been amended to include - the ignition is locked up "again" they are not going to fix but have dropped the BIN and Reserve by $600.

It doesn't look to bad, but if it was driven in rush hour in Houston for 25 years, it has a lot more idleing time to go with the stated mileage.

"After 22 years he was ready to eliminate this particular auto."
"The air conditioner stopped working, and that was the reason for the ORIGINAL owner eliminating this auto."

WOW! 22 years and now he is ready to have an "elimination". Is this a Freudian slip?... I to, had an elimination this morning

At least from the uppity language...his elimination dont stink.

A nice car. But clearly the person who wrote the ad got very carried away. If the ignition is locked then fix it you cheap bastard!

If this guy is trying to get tip TOP dollar for this car. He should invest some $$ into getting it right.

Exactly. If you've got a nice car (and by the listing and pictures that car looks very nice) and you want to get top dollar for it:

FIX THE DAMNED AIR CONDITIONING!

Unbelievable. With good R12 A/C and a working ignition lock that car might bring over $10K on Ebay.

You can say that again. It took me 91 minutes to go 12 miles this morning...all because one light was flashing at I-10 and Hwy 6.

Fortunately, Millie was safely in the garage. The Volvo 240 took the hit this morning.

On the Ebay ad, sure could use some more pics...especially of the interior.

Who's Houston Pride? I'm guessing a Wrestler or Porn star? (First I thought he meant he was gay and drove it in parades! LOL.)

"Mercedes consistently builds quality vehicles", Um, sure they do. Where's this guy been since '99 or so?

It is pretty funny as it reads like a press release. LOL.

Luckily I will never buy ANYTHING on Ebay! (And one day I hope this statement don't come back to haunt me! LOL)

Thanks for the entertainment. It made my evening.

A/C is relative....up here you can get along fine without it. If you can survive a month of the year where the temps are 85-95....then it cools off again. Currently its 61 outside, and thats as high as it got today! We MIGHT see one more day near 70 in the next 10 days....then we get colder. And 70 is not A/C weather....its enjoy the windows down weather.

None of our 3 diesels have functional A/C....funny part is, they all did when we bought them, but it failed within a few days to half a year on all of them.

And our van, it works if you charge it, but now it looses the charge after maybe a month or so....so we stopped charging/caring about that one too. Officially have 0 cars with working A/C now.

Try here in Toronto where June and July routinely top 100 plus Humidity! (Now I remember why we moved away before! Oops!)

Did some calculating, if the car only was stuck in rush hour, 2 hours a day, for two hundred days a year, the car has 10,000 hours on the clock, not claimed by the seller.
