Motor mounts

Hi , looking at a real clean 88 190d, that has a real bad shake as soon as you put the car in gear, shake goes away after accel. must be motor mounts? no? also, breaks are soft and spongy. The mechanic whose selling the car doesn't want to fix the problems. Can't figure, car is absolutely gorgoeus.
can anybody help?
Bill

Mine does the same thing, and I suspect the motor mounts myself. They're totally eroded and cracked, so it wouldn't surprise me.

Also check the air cleaner mounts.

motor mounts

Hey , thanks
would the engine visually twist as you look at it with bad mounts?

Motor mounts sounds like the most likely culprit to me, too. It wouldn't hurt to change those and the tranny mount if they are the original ones. That can make a tremendous difference in vibration.
