79 300d

First off I would like to say hello to everyone. I am new here just bought a few MB'S and have a question 1 is a 83 300d which wouldn't cut off but I finally changed all the vacuum lines and finally got it, the other is a 79 300d and it will not crank the guy I bought it from said he ran it out of diesel now it just turns over but acts like it isn't getting any fuel.Anyone have any suggestions?BTW don't bash me too hard I am not mechanically inclined,I am a computer nerd and had never even changed my own oil before I got these 3 project cars.lol the other 1 is also an 83 300d just going to use for parts.I acquired all 3 for $1000

no reason to bash you. Probably just need to get the air out of the fuel system, start from the home page and use the google search for bleeding fuel system or air in fuel system or ran out of fuel. You will find plenty of help, the people here are great.Next time post in the diesel section.Good luck with your new hobby you will either love it or hate it.My $.02 Don

Welcome to the forum! You'll want to post questions about your cars in the Diesel Discussion forum for the best response. Basically you need to use the hand pump to fill the injection pump, fuel filters and lines with fuel. Otherwise you'll be cranking a long time before that thing starts. Check this discussion.

Why, you no good, lily-livered puke! . . .

Sorry, I just couldn't resist. If you're a computer nerd, you should have bought something made after 2000. They're all computer. At least you've come to the right place. I've learned a lot from the year and a half I've been here. welcome to the forum.
