I just blew my reverse band on my 4 speed auto and have the local shop 'rough quote me on the basic for a rebuilt ans such. Do you think these are high prices or just what I should expect for my mercedes.

1. new trans $4000-5000
2. full rebuilt $3500
3. rebuilt going through starting at $2500 min.(no hard parts/gears damaged.)

My normal trans guy didn't want to do it so this is his recommendation. Said he will treat me right and is honest?!

Are there any upgrades to this trans. Heavy duty bands, kevlar clutch, etc.

Professionally rebuilt transmissions from reputable rebuilders such as Sun Valley are about $1100. Add $500 for r&r if you don't want to do it yourself.

My dealer recommended Sun Valley.
