typical for an 87 300D?

I'm new to my 87 300D, I used to have an '82 so I'm still getting my bearings. I'm trying to figure out how many miles I can expect to a tank? Right now I get anywhere from 340 to 400 ranging from 50/50 town/highway to 80/30 town/highway. What's the norm?

The car needs a little bit of work (such as brakes sticking- which when finished later today will improve the mileage I'm sure) but I just want to see what in the ballpark I can expect. I got the car soley for commuting...to diesel school

Multiply the total fuel tank's gallons by 28 mpg, and you'll hit the range pretty close, for that car.

I have had my 87 for a month. My findings on 4 fill ups: 27, 28, 31 and 27.

EPA rating was 20/25 IIRC. I get 23 in suburban driving. Fuel warning light comes on around 380-390 miles.

It sounds like I'm getting a normal driving range out of a tank then. And should get better when my brakes are no longer dragging. Thanks guys

Thumbs up

Expect low 20s in the city, high 20s the occasional brush with 30-31 when the moons are aligned (happened to me a few times) on the freeway.

I was getting high 20's in mixed driving and low 30's on the highway with the 87 I used to own.
